Vargas Island is located in Clayoquot Sound, off the west coast of
Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The island is about 5 km northwest of the town of Tofino. It lies within the
traditional territory of the Ahousaht people. There are a few cabins on the island, but only about seven people actually
live there. The island consists of cedar-hemlock rainforest, coastal bog, rocky shores and wide open beaches.
